National Minority Health raises awareness, promoting initiatives, and celebrates accomplishments. National Minority Health Month is an observance held every April in the United States to highlight the importance of improving the health of racial and ethnic minority and American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities and reducing health disparities. The event was first established in 1989 by the Office of Minority Health (OMH), a division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, to address the health inequities that exist in the country.
